Hospital Prescriptions

New medication on Discharge from Hospital

If you were admitted to hospital and were discharged on new medication then the hospital must provide you with 2 weeks supply to allow us time to process the request to continue to prescribe and must write to us with the changes. Please bear this in mind before contacting us to request new medication from the hospital. We aim to process these requests faster than 2 weeks but this is not always possible.

New medication following clinic appointment

If the hospital feel you need an urgent prescription then they will prescribe for you and you should collect the prescription from the hospital pharmacy. For routine medication changes they will write to us and we will review this within 2 weeks of receipt of the letter. Please bear this in mind before contacting us to request new medication from the hospital. We aim to process these requests faster than 2 weeks but this is not always possible.

Hospital Prescriptions

If the hospital prescribes you medication you must collect it from the hospital pharmacy. We are unable to change these prescriptions to ones you can collect locally.

We appreciate that there can be long waits at the hospital pharmacy but we are unable to take on this additional work load.
